KELOWNA, B.C. – The Fort St. John U16’s girls soccer team was in Kelowna over the long weekend to compete in the Canada Day tournament.
The team had a tough draw going in, as they were placed in the tournament’s top group. In addition, the team was also at a disadvantage as they were competing without their main goalkeeper. Despite the odds, the girls team battled impressively all weekend, led by backup goalkeeper Abbie Ryder. After losing their first game 1-2, the team ended up with a 3-3 draw in their second game, and a 2-1 win in their third. The fourth game of the tournament was a convincing 5-0 win for the Fort St, John U16 girls, who ended up winning the tournament’s silver medal.
