District of Taylor to keep same approach with garlic spraying of mosquitos

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The District of Taylor will continue to monitor the effects of garlic spray on mosquitos in the area.

At a Council meeting yesterday evening, Councillors discussed what options they had and what they want to do moving forward, to keep the mosquitos at bay and come up with a plan for next year.

Currently, they are doing a pilot project which involves spraying the garlic mixture at the baseball diamonds to see how much of a difference it makes.

The District will continue with the spraying of the ball park diamonds. The District has also been cutting long grass throughout the district in hopes of getting rid of mosquito nests.

The golf course is still up for debate, but the District is leaning towards focusing on that next year.

So far there has been some notice of the mosquitos dying down, but time will ultimately tell. With the end of summer nearing, the city doesn’t want to start any major uptakes until next year.
