FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – One of the largest golf tournaments in the Peace Region is set to take over the Lakepoint Golf and Country Club this August long weekend.

The Peace Country Open will see roughly one hundred of the top golfers in the Peace competing at the course on the shores of Charlie Lake this coming Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The 54-hole tournament format will feature match play, with eliminated players golfing in a 2-player better ball bracket. In addition, there will be various skills competitions, including a hand wedge ball toss for a chance to win a TV, among other prizes.

At least 85 golfers are currently signed up as of noon Wednesday. Registration is open to members and non-members, with entry fees of $125.00 and $150.00 respectively, and closes at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. For more information, call the Lakepoint pro shop at (250) 785-5566, extension 21.
