BEAVERLODGE, A.B. – The Beaverlodge RCMP and Alberta Occupational and Safety officials are continuing to investigate after a fatal rollover accident involving a paving machine yesterday between Hythe and Sexsmith.
On Monday at approximately 11:20 a.m., members from the Beaverlodge RCMP detachement responded to a serious motor vehicle rollover on Highway 672 between Highway 724 and Range Road 81.
When police arrived, they found a large asphalt reclaiming machine had flipped onto its roof and was laying in the south ditch next to the highway. The vehicle’s two male occupants were pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance crews. Their names have not been released.
The highway was under construction at the time of the incident, and will remain closed until further notice until the police and OH&S investigations are compete.
