FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – North Peace Savings Credit Union has given local students bursaries to pursue studying beyond secondary school.

5 students were given $1,000 each to attend post-secondary school and pursue a career. The following 5 recipients are from the North Peace Region as well as the Northern Rockies region.

Diana Fendel – will be attending Okanagan College to pursue Practical Nursing

Harlen Bertrand – will be attending Vancouver Island University to study Digital Media

Ashley Thompson – will be attending the University of Northern BC for a Bachelor of Science

Skyeler Kerr – will be attending the University of Alberta for a Bachelor in Engineering

Erin Stutt- will be attending Northern Lights College to pursue an Electrical Apprenticeship

“Investing in education provides a strong foundation for skill development, leading to the enhancement and strengthening of our communities,” said Mitchel Chilcott, CEO, North Peace Savings & Credit Union. “Being able to provide some relief to the financial stress of post-secondary education is another way in which we help our members succeed in life.”

The bursaries are available to those who are finishing secondary school studies and also those who are continuing post-secondary studies. Applications open in the spring time each year.
