FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – For those of you that may have forgotten, today is property tax deadline day.

Fort St. John residents that do not pay the property taxes by today, will have a 10% charge added on the tax when you pay them as of July 5th.

Shirley Collington, Deputy Treasurer/Collector with the city, says people shouldn’t wait until the last minute as lines have been hit and miss all day.

“It’s hit and miss. Right now there is 1 person standing in line for his turn, where as a few minutes ago it was down the stairs. Don’t wait around until the last minute.”

You can pay your taxes at City Hall in person. They take cash, debit, and cheque at the front counter. You can also pay online through your bank by setting the city up as a payee.
