FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – A Charlie Lake man has been arrested for threatening conduct.
On July 3rd at around 2:00 am, Fort St. John RCMP received a call that a man, who was uninvited, had shown up to a family celebration in the Charlie Lake area with what appeared to be a firearm.
Officers arrived on scene to find that event goers had detained the suspect until police could attend.
“Information provided to police from witnesses was that about 40 minutes prior, the uninvited suspect (believed to be intoxicated) showed up at the private celebration and was requested to leave. The suspect returned to the celebration armed with what appeared to be a rifle and while holding it, assaulted a woman while trying to get into the party. Several attendees were able to detain the suspect and call police.”
Police searched the suspect’s residence and found more firearms inside. Police believe that this is an isolated incident. They say the man was intoxicated and the public is not at risk.
The accused was taken into police custody and was remanded by a Judicial Justice of the Peace to appear in Provincial Court Monday July 4th.
