Two people are dead after a collision near Chetwynd

CHETWYND, B.C. – Just before 11 a.m. Friday, the Chetwynd RCMP were called to a two vehicle collision on Highway 97 east of Chetwynd on the Wabi Hill.

The driver and sole occupant of one vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken to local Hospital by ambulance and has since been released. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle unfortunately succumbed to their injuries on scene.

North Peace Traffic Services are presently on scene to conduct their investigation to determine the cause of the collision. Names of the deceased will not be released by police.

As of 3 p.m. Friday Highway 97 is open to one lane alternating, however, it is expected to open fully within the next two hours.
