BC Reaping The Benefits? Site C Employment Numbers Released

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – BC Hydro has released numbers showing just how many British Columbians are working  on the Site C project currently.

These numbers change month-to-month, but in April the numbers were as follows.

The Site C project are which entails construction, environment and office staff has a total of 1,010 workers. 740 of them are from BC making the percentage of British Columbian workers working on the project 73%.

The Design and Project Team which entails engineering, consulting and project staff has a total of 251 workers. 230 of them are from BC making the percentage of British Columbian workers working on the project 92%.

The total number of workers is 1,261 with 970 being from BC, making the percentage 77% for British Columbian workers.

Minister Bill Bennett said recently that it is important British Coulmbians benefit from the jobs created from the Site C project.

BC Hydro says more jobs will be created as major contracts get underway for main civil works, turbines and generators, transmission and the generating station and spillways.
