McNee Defends Title In 54th Annual Oilmen’s Golf Tournament

CHARLIE LAKE, B.C. – It was an exciting three days of golf at Lakepoint Golf & Country Club this past weekend for the 2016 Oilmen’s Golf Tournament.

The tournament, put on by the Fort St. John Petroleum Association, saw over 200 participants in 13 flights tee off for 54 holes of golf over 3 days. Though featuring fewer participants than in previous years, the event was nevertheless a roaring success.

Kevin McNee defended his title in the Championship Flight, winning the tournament after knocking out Percy Peterkin, Len Holland, Spencer Gairdner, and Layne Peterkin in the 4 rounds of the tourney. On the other side of the single-elimination bracket of the flight, Troy Dorie lost Round 1 on Sunday to Gairdner, before bouncing back and winning matches against Garry Ford, Percy Peterkin, and Chris Ford to clinch the Consolation Winner slot.

Flight One’s winner was Ryan Currie, who eliminated Todd Alexander, Forrest Liddicoat, Tim Montgomery, and Bob Greaves. Phil Bernert took the consolation winner award.

Mike Hamre took 1st place in the Second Flight, while Lee Hartman was named consolation winner.

10th Flight: Keith Holmes – Winner/Jim Trocksted – Consolation Winner

11th Flight: Elmer Westergaard – Winner/Lorne Wieler – Consolation Winner

12th Flight: Tony Zabinsky – Winner/Doug Moffatt – Consolation Winner
