FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – As we reported earlier in the month, local teen Taylor DeVos has headed to Haiti to visit the schools she helped fund, and also visit her sponsor child.

Energeticcity.ca spoke with Taylor yesterday to get an update on how things are going and what her highlights of the trip have been so far.

It`s been amazing so far. I don`t know how to describe how I`m feeling or what I think, but it`s just amazing.

Taylor got to visit one of the schools she helped build. She said they were greeted upon arriving at the school by children at the school and they also sang songs for them. They gave them plaques as a token of appreciation for what Taylor has done. Taylor said it was simply amazing.

There are about 300 students that attend the school Taylor helped fund.

Taylor also expressed excitement about getting to meet her foster child, Mesline. She says she is the one who inspired her to start 1 kid making a difference.

I was speechless. I didn`t know what to think. I didn`t even think we were actually there, it felt like I was dreaming.

There are currently 5 area programs that World Vision is currently working in with around 12,000 kids in the area. Taylor will be visiting 2 more of the programs to get a better sense of what is happening in the country.

Once Taylor has done all her work, she will return home this weekend.
