FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – At around 9:00 p.m. on June 4th, Chetwynd RCMP received information that a single float plane with the pilot being the only passenger, had crashed in mountains near Williston Lake, BC.

Witnesses that were on scene contacted police by satellite phone to notify RCMP that the pilot was deceased.

Chetwynd RCMP, Hudson’s Hope RCMP, Search and Rescue, The BC Coroners Office, and Transport Canada are all working together in the investigation.

The name of the pilot is not being released for investigation reasons as well as notifying next of kin.

While the crash has been ruled not suspicious, the cause is still unknown at this time.
