FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Power has been restored in Fort St. John to most of the affected 2000 customers.

Most of the Fort St. John downtown core is without electricity this afternoon after a power failure.

The outage occurred at 1:02 PM, and is affecting 2011 customers. The outage is extends North of the Alaska Highway to 103rd Avenue, and stretches from 104th Street to 86th Street. BC Hydro says that the cause of the outage is currently under investigation, and that crews have been dispatched. No word yet on an estimated time for power to be restored to affected customers.
