FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – If you think the storm is going to be over soon, it isn’t. Environment Canada has issued a weather statement saying we can expect another 20-40 mm of rain between tonight and tomorrow morning.

Fort Nelson is experiencing the worst, with 60-80 mm expected there.

TRAILS CLOSED IN FORT ST. JOHN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Trails in Fort St. John have been closed until further notice. The city says it is not safe with the downed trees and wet and windy conditions. They are asking the public to stay away from the trails until notified.

FLOOD WARNING ISSUED FOR FORT ST. JOHN AND SURROUNDING AREAS

Emergency info BC has issued a flood watch warning for the Peace Region.

The area includes streams near Pine Pass, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, Dawson Creek, and Fort St John. Northeast B.C. is also under a flood watch near streams in Fort Nelson.

HIGHWAY 97 CLOSED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS FROM MACKENZIE TO CHETWYND

Highway 97 has been closed in both directions from MacKenzie to Chetwynd due to flooding. The road is closed in both directions for assessment and possible failures in several locations.

HIGHWAY 52 CLOSED

Highway 52 is now closed between Arras and Tumbler Ridge. The Highway was open to single lane traffic, but conditions of changed enough that the Highway is closed 10km south of Arras. For updates on this closure, click here.

HIGHWAY 29 CLOSED TO TUMBLER RIDGE

Highway 29 is closed in both directions approximately 13km south of Chetwynd due to a washout. For updates on this highway closure, click here.

HIGHWAY 29 MUDSLIDE

There is a mudslide 12km north/east of Hudson’s Hope along Highway 29. The road is open at this time with traffic control in the area. Click here for more updates on this story.

NUMEROUS POWER OUTAGES REPORTED

There is now a major power outage in Fort St. John.
The outage has occurred in the area of: South-East of ALASKA HWY, North of HWY 29 , West of 86th ST.
1577 people are without power.
