FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Effective immediately, all Fort St. John City trails are closed until further notice.

Julie Rogers, Communications Coordinator, says they have a lot of trees down in the city, making it unsafe for use.

“We have a number of trees down along our trails and with the heavy wind more may fall. Barricades have gone up at the Fish Creek Trails and other forested trails. For public safety, we are asking citizens to stay away from all of our forested trails.”

Chris Murphy, Grounds Manager with the city says it will take crews a few days once the wind dies down to clean up the mess that the wind has left behind.

“ It will likely take our crews a few days to clear away the debris once the wind settles down. For now, even our crews are not permitted on the trails due to falling trees.”
