This holiday season, all of our Supporters are entered to win an $800 Shopping Spree Giveaway!

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Mayor Lori Ackerman has proclaimed that June 18th – 26th be designated Pride Week in Fort St. John.

The proclamation comes in the wake of not only a shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida that led to the death and injury of 103 people, but also the announcement by the Fort St. John Pride Committee that they will host a Pride Walk on June 25th from City Hall to Centennial Park along 100th St.

A delegation from the Pride Committee consisting of Kerry France, Dillon Lazaroff, and Heather Madison made a presentation to council asking them, on behalf of the city’s LGBTQ community, as well as its allies to proclaim the week leading up to the proposed Pride March. France told council that she hopes that the proclamation will promote not only tolerance, but acceptance and inclusion of people of all genders and races, regardless of the sexual orientation. Coun. Larry Evans read the proclamation, which was immediately seconded by Coun. Trevor Bolin before being voted in favour of unanimously by council.
