FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – No news is good news right now for firefighters.
The Beatton Airport Road fire is still burning but crews are making some progress.
The fire hasn’t grown any bigger past the already estimated 15,000 hectares. The B.C. Wildfire Service says crews had success burning fuels to enhance the perimeter and were able to rebuild control lines overnight.
The containment remains at 45 percent.
Today, the Wildfire Service says hot spotting as well as fire suppression will be helped by helicopters as well as heavy equipment.
Crews are hoping for some wet weather later this week that will help assist them in the fight against the fires.
