FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Estimates by the BC Wildfire Service indicate that the Siphon Creek fire is now 7,000 hectares.
Four firefighters were on the fire, along with one helicopter. However, the Wildfire Service says crews couldn’t continue ground suppression efforts, due to the ‘increased fire behaviour.’
Now, the wildfire is being monitored by personnel in a helicopter.
The Peace River Regional District has issued an Evacuation Alert for homes near the fire, which includes all civic addresses on Siphon Creek road, Osborn road, 268 Road, Doig road to the Osborn River, Buekert avenue, McTavish trail, and PDR Osborn ACC and Osborn Dump road.
According to the PRRD, 48 civic addresses are listed with them out there. This, however, does not detail how many people actually live in the area, just the properties owned by residents.
