Search Called Off For Boater Missing On Liard River

FORT NELSON, B.C. – Northern Rockies RCMP have officially called off their search for a 65-year-old Fort Nelson resident who has not been seen since Monday, May 2nd.

The man, whose name has not been released, was a member of a party of three who were boating in the Hell Gate area on the Liard River north west of Fort Nelson. After their boat capsized, two of the men were able to make it two shore, while the third was not located.

The extensive search for the man that had involved area RCMP, along with SAR from both Fort Nelson and Fort St. John, as well as local volunteers since last Tuesday has been officially called off, according to North District RCMP Spokesperson Cpl. Dave Tyreman.

No names or further information about the case has been released.
