Power out after forest fire near Mile 72

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Approximately 400 customers are without power after a forest fire in the area of Mile 73 of the Alaska Highway.

According to B.C. Hydro, power went out at approximately 3:30 and there is no estimate on when power will be restored.

At this time Hydro has not assigned a crew to restore power due to the danger posed by the Beatton Airport Road Fire.

The Beatton Airport Road fire and the fire at Mile 73 have became one large fire Thursday afternoon.  At last count the fire is 10,000 hectares in size.

Over 100 firefighters are working the fire.
