HIGH LEVEL, A.B. – The Fort St. John Killbillies roller derby squad were triumphant on the road this weekend.
The team travelled to High Level to take on the Aurora Boriellas on Saturday night, a team that they previously beat in their home opener on April 30th at the North Peace Arena. The Killbillies’ line up consisted of 5 “fresh meat” players, two of whom played in their first-ever game. The team’s fitness was evident within the first few minutes of the game, according to the team’s Executive Board President Jenna Hildebrand, or ‘Jennacide’ as she’s known on the track. This was just one of the factors that helped the Killbillies cruise to victory over the Boriellas with a final score of 310-48.
The Killbillies, who are actively recruiting, are back in action on Saturday for a home Summer Scrimmage. The game will feature members of the current team, “fresh meat” who just passed their minimal skill requirement and some “old meat” who haven’t been on the track this year. There will also be some skaters from other Peace Region teams. The action takes place at the North Peace Arena on June 4th, doors are at 6:30 P.M., and the bout starts at 7:00 P.M.
