PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Twelve North Peace Secondary School students travelled to Prince George this past weekend for the 2016 BC High School Track and Field Championships North Central zone qualifier.
The team is the first from NPSS in 23 years, and faces a large disadvantage compared to other districts, as it is one of the few districts that don’t have a rubberised running track on which to train.
Despite this, the team had great success at the meet, with 9 out of the 12 students qualifying for the championships which take place in Nanaimo June 2nd – 4th.
The nine student athletes will be competing in most disciplines, including: sprinting and long distance running, long jump, high jump and even one hurdler headed to the championship.
