FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The 17th Annual Bluey Day is less than two days away.
The event, which raises funds for the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation, will be taking place on Saturday May 28th at the Ambulance Station in Fort St. John, located at 10010 96 Street from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Last year’s Bluey Day, which is named for the uniform colour worn by police, firefighter, and ambulance crews, raised over $100,000. Event organisers are hoping to meet or exceed that goal this year. Since 1999, 540 participants have helped raise over $1.5 million for the Hospital Foundation.
Jessica Kalman with the Foundation says that 33 participants are currently signed up, and that there is still time to register if anyone wants to “Be Brave & Shave” this year. Participants can register right up until shave time on Saturday.
The Foundation hopes to reach the $100,000 fundraising goal to purchase medical equipment that will assist in diagnosing and treating patients with cancer at the Fort St. John Hospital.
