FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – The Fort St. John Professional Firefighters Association raised $40,000 at the 2016 Fort St John Firefighters Charity Ball.

Fire Department Shift Captain Brent Morgan says each year they raise money for the B.C. Professional Firefighters Burn Fund. Morgan says this year was one of the best years yet.

“It was a great turnout. We actually had 320 people buy tickets which was our biggest attendance we’ve had in the eight years that we’ve been running the ball.”

The Fort St. John Burn Fund helps fund many different projects and events such as car washes, pancake breakfasts, and BBQ’s. Money is used locally for things like new equipment for hospitals and programs to teach kids about being responsible for their safety.

Morgan wants to thank those who took the time to come to the ball and also those who donated to make the night a success.

“We want to thank everyone that came, donated, sponsored, and supported us over the last 8 years. I know that it has been a tough year for a lot of people and companies and we just really appreciate everything everyone has done for us.”
