FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – Bluey Day 2016 was a success, according to Jessica Kalman with the FSJ Hospital Foundation.

Bluey Day is a day aimed at raising money for cancer treatment and research.

“On May 28th participants will gather at the BC Ambulance Building to “Be Brave & Shave”. The 2016 campaign goal is $100,000 for the Foundation’s Cancer Diagnostic and Treatment Fund. Donations to this fund are used to purchase equipment that aids in the comfort, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with cancer at our hospital. It also ensures the Foundation can meet both the long term and emergent needs of our hospital as our medical staff works on early diagnosis and treatment of patients with cancer.”

Kalman says the day went well overall, and was pleased with the turnout.

“It went very well. We had 33 shavers in total. We raised $64,030.30”

Kalman expects donations to continue to come in the month of June as people still have time to donate for the month. They want to raise a grand total of $100,000 this year.
