FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Alaska Highway is closed near Mile 73 north of Fort St. John due to a forest fire in the area.
A fire that started yesterday in the area is now 50 hectares in size, and has crews working on the fire with support from air tankers and helicopters.
A detour is available via Aitken Creek Road 157, Buick Creek and Beatton River Airport Road 151. Be advised detour is load limited to 40 tonnes GVW. Drive with caution and obey all signs and Traffic Control Personals instructions.
UPDATE: No detour in effect. Aitken Creek Road is closed as well. DriveBC asks that drivers proceed with caution and obey all signs and Traffic Control Personals instructions.
