FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A new fire has started near Mile 77 of the Alaska Highway.
Fire Information Officer Emily Epp says the fire is 50 hectares in size, with airtankers and 11 firefighters are combating the blaze.
She added that Oil and Gas infrastructure is located near the fire, and that the BC Wildfire Service has recommended that companies relocate workers away from the sites.
Helicopters were also assisting, but Epp said they had to land due to smoke obscuring their sight.
