FORT ST. JOHN – The Peace River Regional District has lifted the evacuation alert for the Beatton Airport Road Fire.
According to Fire Information Officer Noelle Kekula, 20 more firefighters are expected to start helping on the fire Tuesday.
While the rain definitely helped with containment measures over the weekend, she says a warmer forecast and gusts of wind expected this week has the team concerned about those conditions.
Even with damp, cold conditions this weekend, the Rank 1 fire has been creeping through areas of dense ground fuels and burning areas. The BC Wildfire service says those were missed before because of wind direction and fuel concentration.
Even with those concerns, officials have lifted the evacuation alert. The Wildfire Management Branch will continue to monitor the area.
