FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Fire information officer Noelle Kekula says the BC Wildfire Service has a better idea of the size of the Beatton Airport Road fire, and its bigger than earlier estimated at 6,300 hectares.
However, she stressed, that doesn’t mean it’s growing in size.
She says smoke and fog made confirming the perimeters of the fire more difficult earlier, when it was estimated to be 5,500 hectares.
More firefighters arrived yesterday, she confirmed, and started working on the south flank of the fire.
The Beatton area is still in an evacuation alert, which means residents should be ready to pack up and leave their homes should an evacuation order be put in place.
