Peace River North MLA Pat Pimm has congratulated the businesses in the region who are nominated for Best Community Impact and Best Workplace — City Furniture & Appliances in Fort Nelson, and Black Ace Supply in Fort St. John, respectively

“These awards strive to celebrate the contributions made by new and existing small businesses in B.C. towards our local and global economy,” he said. “The business that receives the Best Community Impact Award goes to a company that’s truly making a difference in their community.”

Of Fort St. John-based Black Ace Supply, who, as earlier reported, were nominated for Best Workplace, Pimm said the business who receives that award ‘provides a supportive, happy and healthy work environment for their staff.’

“It’s a leader in encouraging both mental and physical health in its employees through education, incentives and activities for all staff members,” he added.

Recipients of Small Business BC Awards will be recognized with the Premier’s Prize in the amount of $1,500 cash.

Nominees go through rounds of voting until the Top 5 are chosen to present a business pitch to the judges, à la Dragon’s Den.

The winners of each category will be announced at the Small Business BC Awards Ceremony on February 25 at the Pan Pacific Vancouver Hotel, and be offered a one-year all-access pass to education, resources, and mentorships from experts in business.
