The Fort St. John Knights of Columbus Flyers began their ERBHL season last night against Grande Prairie. The home side began the year on a positive note as they defeated the Storm by a score of 4-1.
After an even first period that resulted in no goals being scored, the Flyers were first to find the back of the net in the second. They’d add a second goal with just over five and a half minutes left in the middle frame to lead 2-0 after 40 minutes.
Grande Prairie closed to within one early in the third period, however the Flyers would restore their two goal lead with 6:22 left in the third. Fort St. John put the game away with their fourth goal with 1:17 left to play
Scoring for the Flyers was Connor Bowie (2), Nathan Brownlee, and Cooper Beamish.
Jordan Fairlie got the start in goal and made 29 saves.
The Flyers next game is slated for tomorrow at the Pomeroy Sport Centre at noon against the Peace River Sabres.
