Following reports of long line ups across Canada, it may not come as quite a surprise to hear that Elections Canada guesses about 3.6 million voters showed up to the advance polls across the four days they were active.

1.2 million of those voters were on Monday alone, the Elections Canada BC Media Contact Dorothy Sitek told Energetic City in an e-mail.

“This represents an increase of 71 percent over the number of electors who voted at advance polls in 2011,” she wrote.

The exact number of voters, specifically in the Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies riding, has not been disclosed.

Running in this riding are Matt Shaw (Liberal), Kathi Dickie (NDP), Barry Blackman (Progressive Party), Todd Keller (Libertarian), Elizabeth Biggar (Green Party) and incumbent Bob Zimmer (Conservative).

The deadline for registration to vote is tonight at 6:00 PM. Find out more about registration here.

The election is on October 19th.
