Deputy Fire Chief Darrell Blades says the Fort St. John fire department responded to a call at 4:53 PM yesterday afternoon, to the 9000 block of 72nd street.
An excavator was loading dump trucks with top soil from a land-clearing project, and he says the engine area of the excavator caught on fire.
He says they were on a scene for less than an hour to take care of, and the fire was completely extinguished.
No injuries were reported.
The Fort St. John Fire Department is reminding people that next week is Fire Prevention Week, with the theme of the week being “Hear the Beep where you Sleep.”
