The unemployment rate reported for Northeastern BC has dropped from 6.4% in July to 5.5% in August, as the Labour Ministry says in it’s Monthly Labour Force Statistics.
Last August, the unemployment rate was 4.1%.
The unemployment rate had been gradually rising since it was reported at 4.2% in March 2015.
For this August, BC saw the lowest unemployment rate in the health sector, with just 0.7%, and occupations unique to primary saw the highest, with 8.9%.
Occupations unique to Processing, Manufacturing, and Utilities saw the most drastic change, from a rate of 6.8% last August, to just 1.2% this year.
