North West Junior Hockey League begins regular season

This past weekend the puck officially dropped on the start of the 2015-2016 NWJHL season. Three games were played featuring five teams.

The Fairview Flyers got off to a quick start with two games. They opened with a 6-3 victory over the Sexsmith Vipers on Friday night, and a 5-2 victory over the Beaverlodge Blades on Saturday.

The top two teams from last season met in Clairmont as the North Peace Navigators took on the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings. The Kings outshot the Navigators 42-32, however were on the wrong side where it mattered most as they fell 7-3.

One game had to be postponed on Friday as the Dawson Creek Junior Canucks were scheduled to go to Peace River. That game will be played at a later date due to arena issue according to the NWJHL website.

The Fort St. John Huskies will begin the season on Sunday when they take on the Blades in Beaverlodge.
