The 6th annual Zombie Walk in Fort St. John will start this Saturday, September 26th at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall’s parking lot entrance.
Everyone is invited to the BBQ at 11:30 AM by cash donation, and the walk starts at 1 PM.
The Kin Club are first-time organizers of the event and are trying to get as many food bank donations as they can.
Jeannette Johnston, co-chair of the Zombie Walk this year, says the event is fun, but the heart of it is in gathering those donations for the food bank.
“The costumes are great, the make up is great… but it’s about the awareness to bring to people that the shelves get bare this time of year, and it’s important to give back.” she said.
It starts at The Royal Canadian Legion on 105th Ave, where the group will cross 100th St to Petro Can. From there, they will continue down 100th St to Whole Wheat and Honey at 100th Ave, and crosse at WWH to the new park/vacant lot. Next, the group heads back up 100th St to 105th Ave and will return to The Legion for the awards.
There are prizes for ‘Best Adult Zombie,’ ‘Best Child Zombie,’ ‘Best Zombie Family,’ and a ‘Door Prize Draw.’ To be a Zombie Finalist, do your best Zombie shuffle past the Zombie Hunter.
