Chetwynd has quite a bit of help joining their teams of physicians and nurses across the town.

A physician has agreed to join the team of two full-time permanent physicians at the Chetwynd Medical Clinic on a minimum one-year contract – and another full time physician is expected to join the team after completing the practice ready assessment in February 2016.

In addition, coverage has been secured for the Chetwynd Primary Care Clinic and the emergency department while recruitment efforts continue.

A permanent nurse practitioner will join the care team at the Chetwynd Primary Care Clinic, who will work closely with the physicians and inter-professional team to care for patients.

Chetwynd is one of the first communities in B.C. to welcome the community para-medicine program being introduced by BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS).

The program is in the initial stage – paramedic unit chiefs are helping to confirm the specific services required in the community, for which community paramedics are able to provide, given their training.
