RCMP issue warning on scam artists

Fort St. John RCMP is reminding the public to be wary of hard luck scam stories. They suggest people may often offer stories of how they need money because of a broken down vehicle, being towed and running out of gas, and needing money to get back to their car.

Another common scam according to a release issued by the detachment is people showing up at a stranger’s door and stating that they are a new neighbour and have locked their keys in their house and need money for a locksmith.

It’s not uncommon for scammers to have a pet with them, or to bring up a story about the death of a loved one according to police.
