Education Minister Mike Bernier announced today $20 million in funding for school districts to extend the life of facilities and school based assets. Bernier made the announcement in Kelowna while speaking at the BC School Superintendents Association’s summer leadership academy.
Examples of projects include electrical, energy, health and safety, mechanical, and roofing upgrades. Projects must cost more than $100,000 to be eligible.
Priority will be given to schools with enrolment demands and the greatest opportunity to improve facilities.
Submissions must be made by districts by September 15. They will then be reviewed by the Ministry with successful applicants being notified in the fall.
