Independent Investigations Office looking into case from Chetwynd

The Independent Investigations Office of BC is conducting preliminary investigations of an incident in Chetwynd. The case is described only as “serious harm”.

According to the IIO’s website the Chief Civilian Director will sustain jurisdiction if serious harm/death and a relationship between the injury and the action of an officer can be confirmed. Jurisdiction will be released if this is not possible.

Once an incident is under investigation by the IIO, RCMP are not able to comment on the circumstances of the case. An email response from the IIO stated that details are not provided during the preliminary stages of any investigation.
