Dawson Creek RCMP responded to a total of 171 calls for the week of August 2-August 8. In the calls were 18 driving complaints, nine thefts, eight impaired driving investigations, and five break and enters.
On August 3 a maroon 1998 Glastron Lake/Ski boat and trailer were stolen from the 8400 block of 19A Street. The boat has a 150 horse power Johnson outboard motor and the trailer is a white EZ loader model. Anyone that may have seen the boat or has information is asked to call the Dawson Creek RCMP detachment at 250-784-3700, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Dawson Creek Traffic Services attempted to stop a pickup truck on Adams Road on August 7. The driver of the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed into a rural area. The vehicle and its driver were found a short time later after a spike strip was used. A 31 year old male was taken into custody and is facing a number of charges including failing to provide a breath sample.
The next day RCMP members discovered a stolen vehicle on 8th Street. The individuals inside were taken into custody, and the driver who was near by at the time was also arrested. The driver, a 33 year old male who was known to police confessed that he had ingested a large amount of cocaine and methamphetamine. He was immediately taken to hospital in Dawson Creek before being transported to a hospital in Grande Prairie.
Police noted in their report that the fall fair was well managed by staff and police were appreciative of their efforts and of volunteers.
