Over $17,000 given to non-profit groups from CanolaFest

A lot of hands went into making CanolaFest a success last weekend and as a result non-profit groups in the community are seeing the benefits. $17,800 were given to local groups by organizers Moose FM and Sound in Town as honorariums were given to help with staffing the event.

The Sunrise Rotary Club, the Kin Club of Fort St. John, Northern Dance Theatre Society, Big Sisters and Big Brothers of Fort St. John, the High School Rodeo Association, and Big Bam Ski Hill are among the groups that will benefit.

In a release event organizer Adam Reaburn said, “This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of these volunteer groups. Volunteers from each group spent countless hours helping to make this event a success and for that we say thank you.”

It’s hoped that CanolaFest will be an annual event that brings in top Canadian musicians while showcasing talents in the Peace.
