Masked robber strikes convenience store; police seek witness

A man in a ski mask stormed a Fort St. John convenience store earlier this morning and made off with cash and cigarettes.

Fort St. John RCMP say the robbery happened around 3:15 a.m. at the Mac’s store on 100 Avenue. The masked man was carrying a kitchen knife and demanded the cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene on foot, according to police.

In a release, Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says a young man came into the store and left as the robbery was happening, and are asking for the public’s help in locating and identifying the witness.

Police have also released a surveillance image from the robbery, and describe the suspect as wearing a “distinctive red and white hoodie.”

The man was also wearing black sweat pants, and white sneakers, police say.
