This weekend saw beautiful weather, which was great for all the many events happening in the Peace Country! There was lots of things to see and do all around the region! Friday was a great start to the weekend, with fantastic weather – great for the second ‘Movies in the Park’ event at Centennial Park that showed ‘The Lego Movie’ and ‘Night at the Museum! I also stopped by the community gardens as well as Wheelchair Sports at the North Peace Arena. At the Lido, the FSJ Oil Wives also hosted their ‘Grammy Night’ event!
The Farmer’s Market happened Saturday morning at the FSJ Curling Rink, joined by NEAT for their ‘Around the World in 50 Days Event’. The many activities, such as plastic bottle boats, squirt gun painting, and a scavenger hunt around town, were all based on this week’s theme: Water. The Girl Guides were also out selling cookies and raising money to send local kids to a national girl guides camp! There was also lots of action in the Peace as the Slo-Pitch Poker Tournament kicked off, as well as the Mini Stock Challenge at the Taylor Speedway, and the Petroleum Association’s Oilmen Trapshoot at the North Peace Rod and Gun Club.
Sunday morning, Energetic Edge Cheerleading invited me to their cheerleading clinic / camp happening at Dr Kearney school. The clinic was held by two coaches from Kelowna, Nikki and Pete Parrotta, who taught the participants tumbling, choreography, and stunting techniques. Sunday also saw the final day of both the Slo-Pitch Poker Tournament at the Surerus Fields as well as the Mini Stock Challenge at the Taylor Speedway. Fort St John-ers were also out and about around town! I stopped by a garage sale, the rotary skatepark, and other locations were people where out enjoying the sunshine!
Stay tuned to the Moose and Energetic City stay up-to-date on upcoming events! I’ll be out again every weekend this summer in the Hair Bin Summer Cruiser letting you know what’s happening!
