Evacuation alert rescinded for area northeast of Fort Nelson

Rain has helped to slow growth of the Petitot River Fire northeast of Fort Nelson.

The weather has also helped remove the evacuation alert for an area near the Petitot fire including the Penn West Wild Boy plant.  The fire still sits at approximately 3,350 hectares in size.

The fire remains in a modified response, meaning it is being actively monitored and but not actively suppressed.

The area affected the affected by the evacuation alert was bounded by the longitudes 120 50.0”W to 121 15.0’W; the Petitot River to the north; and the pipeline to the south is rescinded.
