Some of the best golfers from the region will be teeing off this weekend at Lakepoint Golf and Country Club for the Peace Country Open. The tournament will be played in a match play format with the action starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Lakepoint general manager Troy Knight said the event is one of the highlights on the yearly schedule and provides golfers with a chance to be recognized with other past winners.

“We take great pride in our championships. There’s a trophy for the Peace Country Open winner on the line and a bunch of trophies for the flights as well. It’s a chance to hold yourself with a long standing list of great players that have won the event.”

Travis Eggers won last year’s tournament and will be competing this year once again.
