Grande Prairie RCMP have captured a prisoner after he escaped from a local hospital while in police custody.
At approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday Rocky Gray, a 28-year-old male, escaped police custody after being released from a local area hospital where he was receiving medical treatment. Gray was in custody in relation to a police investigation from earlier in the week.
After being released, he managed to flee to a residence a short distance away from the hospital where he then barricaded himself inside. Shortly after he surrendered to police and was taken back into custody.
Gray is now facing a number of new charges in relation to this incident. RCMP will also be conducting an internal review of this incident.
