It’s becoming a walk with a different kind of view.
Dawson Creek RCMP have issued a warning to people using the local walking trail of pair of recent incidents involving a man exposing himself and masturbating to women out for a stroll.
The two incidents happened between the Library and 17th Avenue, with the first occurring on June 15. Police received reports of a tall, white man sitting on a bench and reeking of pot, who exposed himself to a young woman walking by.
The man didn’t approach her, and the woman fled the scene. Police patrols of the area, which included the K-9 unit, failed to turn up a suspect.
The second incident happened July 8, when a man surprised a pair of women walking the trail by jumping out of some bushes with his penis exposed. The women walked by, but when they looked back, found him masturbating in their direction.
“A lot of times these kind of sexual offences tend to escalate,” said Sgt. Ed Reinink.
“They get braver and braver, and need more risk to stimulate them.”
Police believe the same man was involved in both incidents.
The man is described as white, about 30 years old, and about five-feet-ten-inches tall with a medium build. He has brown hair, and was wearing plaid shorts and T-shirt.
