CAMBRIDGE, Ont. — Suzann Pettersen and Mariajo Uribe shared the clubhouse lead at 13 under early through Friday’s second round at the Manulife LPGA Classic.
Pettersen played bogey-free golf, twice reeling off three birdies in a row, to finish at 7-under 65 on the day.
Uribe also had a clean slate with five birdies to shoot 5-under 66.
Cristie Kerr, who tore up the course in the first round tying a Whistle Bear Golf Club course record at 9-under 63, had trouble making birdies and shot a second round of 3 under.
Kerr came into the second round tied with Cheyenne Woods and P.K. Kongkraphan, who shot a second round of 75 to drop to 6 under.
Woods, the niece of PGA star Tiger Woods, started her round later Friday.
Yani Seng, Kim Kaufman, Pernilla Lindberg and Victoria Elizabeth, an alternate who replaced Natalie Gulbis on Wednesday, were tied at 11 under.
Alena Sharp, of Hamilton led early Canadian finishers at 7 under, shooting 2-under 69 on Friday. Sara-Maude Juneau of Quebec City (68) was at 5 under for the tournament, while Sue Kim of Langley, B.C., (71) was at 4 under.
A projected cut of 3 under, which would tie the for the low 36-hole cut on the LPGA Tour, could hurt the remaining Canadians, as Jennifer Kirby of Paris, Ont., finished the second round at 2 under.
Amateur Augusta James of Bath, Ont., won’t make the weekend, finishing her second round at 5 over.
