Jonathan Bruce memorial bench unveiled

Friends and family of the late Jonathan Bruce gathered at the start of the walking trail off of 100 Street near Northern Lights College as a memorial bench was unveiled in his honour. The bench was made a possibility by a friend of Bruce’s Talon Kidner who created a go fund me page to raise the necessary funds.

It took only 11 hours for the online page to raise the required $1,700 for the bench and plaque.

Kidner said a lot of people considered Bruce a best friend and added that he would call him every morning. Kidner added he was a nice person who was willing to give the shirt off his back for someone else in need.

As Orange was Bruce’s favourite colour, orange balloons were released in the air as a tribute at the unveiling of the bench.

Members of the RCMP also attended. They said that the investigation is still on going and encouraged anyone with information to contact them at 250-787-8100, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
